Meet owner

John Foster

John and his wife Myrn a came to Mendocino county in 1976 after serving as Missionaries in the Dominican Republic for 10 years. They settled in Laytonville where they opened a roadside fruit stand which gradually grew into an Organic Health food store. 

John bought an older delivery van and began hauling produce and groceries for the store. Customers asked about trading firewood for groceries and soon John started selling firewood in Sonoma County so he could haul something both ways. soon the business grew and it was necessary to buy a bigger truck then another and so forth.

ln 1998 John and Myrna  moved to Ukiah. Soon various ranches and vineyards asked John to haul pears and grapes. The business grew rapidly because of John's honesty and fairness. Soon enough, John was selling Shipping Containers to provide a back haul from the Bay Area. Many customers requested John to modify containers and also rent them. Thus, Space Box Custom Containers was born!
